Covid-19 is an unfortunate event in the world at this point of time, putting the whole world out of action. Doctors all over the world along with paramedics are fighting it out against this unseen enemy. My main concern as a doctor involved in this fight is that the people are becoming a little complacent, as far as the lockdown as well as social distancing is concerned. They believe it can’t happen to them, but unluckily its right at our doorsteps. With the help of a capable government and medical help, the situation is certainly improving.
The real heroes are our housekeeping staff, our nursing staff, our doctors, our policemen. One of the ways we can inform the people about the risks taken by our medical personnel is by means of interviews of our Covid positive patients, who have seen it all and have recovered from this dreaded infection. No one knows it better than them.
I can only quote of the dedicated work of Dr. Edwin Gomes, from Dept of Medicine Dept of GMC ,who has dared to care for these patients and managed to instil confidence in my medical team at ESI so that we could care too. I have been focused on my Covid hospital and hence can only speak for it.
Our Goa government has done a wonderful job, right from the job of enforcing the lockdown, caring for the needs of its people, and by dedicating an entire hospital for treatment of positive patients so as to isolate and treat the disease without any other overlap.
I can correlate colour blue with the current situation.. as it’s the colour of confidence, faith, having positive effect on the mind... everyone needs to remain calm in this situation, also keeps the bad spirits away – Dr. Vishwajit Faldesai (Orthopedic surgeon, doctor at ESI hospital treating Covid-19 positive patients)
