I am a doctor and have been practicing surgeon for the last 25 years. I always believed in health being a priority and wondered why others didn't think like me, the government, private sector and individuals alike.

It would always require a bad experience in practice for some person or a catastrophic health event in someone's life to remind that person that, health is important, and see today what has happened!

The #WorldWar3 is not against each other but the world against a micro-organism

Our governments all over the world spend so little of the GDP on health and research. Health care workers, doctors and researchers should be highly paid so that the best get into it. Hospitals are not given any incentives and all commercial laws and licenses are applicable to it.

Today the government wants the private sector which it always critical of to join hands to fight the war against the virus! Nations spent billions in one upmanship & building up nuclear arsenal, missiles, aircrafts, tanks, ships, submarines & other war logistics.

So next time when a budget is made please see that a considerable percent of the GDP goes for health and research for the same!

We are the soldiers in the frontline without proper weapons, Sisters and doctors are dying due to poor person protective equipment and patients dying because of poor facilities!

At least give the soldiers a proper gun to fight and respect him, a doctor a hero today doesn't take me to become a villain in better times! In these days of lockdown, you realize how little you require, and how basic your needs can be!

Overall my gut feel is its nature's way of balancing out, when we as humans have ravaged the planet with our greed and neglected every other species!

Also, what we are seeing is Darwin's theory at play where natural evolution is taking place and the strongest and the fittest will survive.

Always Green, the colour I associate to hope, to tomorrow - Dr Sujoy Das
